Night feeding formula

Hi all, what's the best way to do formula night feeds that doesnt require a trip downstairs or handling lots of boiling water in middle of night? Baby will drink powder or ready made milk but only warmed.

How can I prepare this quickly and without leaving bed? Would ready made and a bottle warmer by the bed be best?

Thank you.

You either need to take premade bottles to bed, make it up with hot water shot and cold water (home made prep machine or buy a perfect prep), or have a fridge upstairs to store a home made bottle in and reheat it with hot water.

It’s not safe to keep a made up from powder bottle out the fridge for more then two hours or use only cold water to make up a bottle of powdered milk.

We took a flask of boiled water upstairs and had the powder measured out in the little pots, and in the bottles we put an amount of initially cooked boiled water (filled them when we went up to bed- by the time we needed it, they were cold. - also depending on the time of feed had different amounts , or the 2am feed would have more cooled water than the 5am one. We had 2 kids who ended up being bottle fed and discovered this after faffing with cooking bottles under the tap, or using heaters to warm them up. This was easier and each bottle was made fresh.

Good luck.

Cooling bottles under a tap- not cooking. It’s the same principle as a perfect prep machine.

Thanks. Don't always have to do night feeds any more but want to avoid having to go downstairs to prep machine when I do. Do some people take it upstairs each night?

I can use bottles of ready made (ie fresh from carton - not made by me) but need to heat up a bit. Was wondering if there was a quicker way than just submerging in warm water for a bit.

Thank you.

Yes do the premade feeds (formula that you buy already made up) and a basic bottle warmer from amazon/mothercare.

My boys are 16 and 12. I just used to microwave the bottle for 20 seconds or so, put lid on and give it a really vigorous shake to get rid of any hot spots. Is there now some new advice not to use a microwave? EVERYONE i knew used one back then. But we also made up all the bottles in the morning and kept them in the fridge, taking one out when needed and microwaving. So easy! I do feel for new mums nowadays, it all seems to complicated and unnecessarily alarmist.

I realise thats no help at all OP, sorry!
