DS is 7 months and i am back to work in a months time
I want to continue to bf morning and night and then ff in between. Have no idea what to do, i.e. how much ff to give, what brand etc, and if this seems realistic.
Some people i've spoken to (i.e. HV, MIL etc!!)has said my milk supply will prob stop, but i thought it still worked on supply + demand, even though it will be reduced?
Don't want to stop bf as love our special time feeding, know its good for him, plus it was so hard to get right i want to milk it(excuse the pun) for all its worth

Any chance you could express during the day at work and hence leave her with bm rather than formula in a bottle?
I'm not up on current legisalation but I seem to remember emplotyers are obliged to provide somehwere for bfing mothers to express and use of a fridge to store the milk in...

Both boys were bf morning and night at this age. Ds1 went to ff through the day when I went back to work (he was 6mo) - 1 bottle a day - 8oz of aptamil. Ds2 refused to take a bottle in any shape or form (actually preferentially starved himself between morning and evening feeds (though ate proper food obviously, just didn't have milk to drink at lunch time) for a week before I eventually surrendered to no bottle). His fabulous nursery spoon fed him expressed bm at lunch time and he went to a sippy cup after a few weeks, again with expressed bm. I worked 3 days a week and he bf at lunch time on the 4 non work days - supply was absolutely fine. Probably an extreme case but goes to show that your body will work out your own routine. Ds2 continued to bf morning and night through to 13mo when he chose to stop.

Good on you! Lots of people manage to carry on feeding around work: my friend fed until DD was 14 months. A lovely way to reconnect at the end of the day smile.

Oops - too many brackets

Start expressing a bit now to stockpile in the freezer.

Feed more often on days you're with him. What hours will you be doing?

Express at work if at all possible.

Use formula as a back-up.

He'll be eating more in a month. And more still a month after that. And more again a month after that.

It'll be fine. Honest. I've done it twice. I didn't stockpile ebm with DS1, so it was harder as I was always chasing my tail (so to speak) to keep up with his needs, but if you can, do.

I find it's a lovely way to connect with DS2 after I've been at work, as BB says. He's 18mo now and fully bf. Went back to work when he was 9mo and he would drink maybe 2-4oz ebm a day? He's fine.

You can make it work, because it will just work. Your supply is pretty robust by now, I'm sure.

Thanks for the advice, will try expressing but with formula as back up I think.
I will be working full time so would need to express a lot, so that is my only concern!
I could express at work, as in I would have access to facilities, but don't feel I would be comfortable doing so I know that seems really silly.
I'll do my best, so thanks for comments, really helpful
