He won't BF anymore - now what in terms of milk?

Baaaaaaaaah, we've been camping all week (which was ace) but whilst away my son who is 3 weeks off one has refused to BF at all now. He's had about 1 tiny feed in 3 days. I know it's been coming for a while and I'm a bit sad, but I'm going to keep offering just on the offchance.

Thing is though, should I now be offering cow/goat/soya milk instead? Does it matter how much? I don't rate my chances of getting it down him to be honest!

Any advice?

DD went on a nursing strike at about this age when I got pregnant, I moved her onto full fat cows milk and she was fine.
What have you given her for cooking etc? If you have given her cows like that then she is very unlikely to react to it.
I think at one they should be on around a pint a day IIRC.

Try it in a sippy cup if a bottle doesn't work as well.
Good luck!

He's been having cows milk on his cereal for about 5 months so maybe I'll carry on with that. Will have to try sippy cup but he's so darned independent at the mo he won't let anyone help and just waves the cup around! Cheers for reply!

Erm cow's milk is fine from one, I doubt the three weeks would make much difference realistically. I believe you have to be a bit careful with Soya, a lot of it has added sugar and you would need to make sure its the fortified variety but if you get the right type I think its ok. Would he eat yoghurt and cheese and things like that as a replacement?
My daughter didn't go in much for milk as soon as she realised that solid food existed so I think all babies are quite different. Some drink a lot of milk and some don't. Though at three she still has a cup of milk in the morning and one at night.

Any way up cup/amadeus have a cool cow print cup that could tempt him. You can take the valve out too. They sell them in Jojo Maman bebe shops and online in a few places, its a bit gimmicky but could be an idea.

I got ds's cow cup from Morrisons (it was one of the larger stores). From 1 year the minimum is around 350mls (approx 12oz) but this can be from milk with cereal, in foods, dairy products, etc as well as drinks.

BB,my ds lost interest in breastfeeding at this age. I never gave him any sort of milk afterwards as a drink. Milk is overrated once past the age of 1 or so (unless human of course!)

hE JUST HAD MILK ON CEREAL,CHEESE AND YOGHURT AND NOT IN HUGE AMOounts either. My kids are now 3 and 6 and have never drunk milk apart from my own.

Cheers very much for advice everyone. He does eat yogurt and cheese and has milk on or in things so perhaps I'll just not stress about it. Will check out those cups too! It's not so bad when he's hurling water around the place but milk's another thing, eeeurgh....Deffo need one with a spout that can close!

It's a bit sad really but hopefully the last stone of baby weight might shift now if he's stopped...?
