Hi, Went to nursery settling in today (blub but thats another story) and noticed that the other babies throwing back huges bottles of milk like there is no tomorrow. DD doesn't take a bottle and has been reducing how much boob she takes to the point where some days she only has a morning & evening feed. Am I missing something? I was planning to leave a bottle at nursery but know that she probably won't take it and will just have to get by on water & solids, is this enough?

Bottle fed babies always seem to take an enormous amount of milk compared to breast-fed babies. i would often see my SIL's babies take huge bottles of 8oz or more, when mine would only take 4-5ozs of expressed milk, while I was at work. As long as your baby is happy and thriving, leaving a bottle, in case she wants it, or letting her have just food and water sounds like enough.

pesme if she eating well i wouldnt worry tomuch about the amount of milk shes taking as the process of weaning is to get them of the bottle oh and dont panic myds came of the bottle at ten months after two days of giving it to him and him throwing it at me and hitting the water i gave up trying and hes happy and healthy 1 year old now

DS is just 9 mths and for the past month he has been having 6ozs in morning and 8oz in the evening plus milk in food, cereal, yogs etc... He eats well is healthy and is happy. That's the important one

My 8 and a half month old usually has 3 feeds a day, 8am, 3pm and 8pm. Sometimes she will skip the 3pm one, and the other night at a wedding she didn't want her bedtime feed. That totally threw me, but she had had a big meal at 6 and was very tired. She was fine, and slept all night as usual. Hope this reassures.

£20 - my final offer

My dd started nursery at 5 months and would not take a bottle (she was bf only up to then). I would leave a bottle for her but she didn't take it and was perfectly happy on food etc through the day. I think your dd will be fine on water and solids.

Thanks everyone, had dd's 8 month check and mentioned my concerns to hv. She said 'Oh just give her some formula'????? Why would she suddenly start drinking formula if she doesn't want my milk? Heh ho. Glad its normal.

What is eefs on about?

sorry, was in a funny mood yesterday. I'd definitely pay more than £20 for my eight month old.

Pesme - babies become more and more efficient at feeding all the time - she's taking enough if she seems ok to you.
