No colostrum?

I'm 37+1 and I'm not leaking colostrum as of yet. Just clear liquid every now and then, mainly out of the right nipple.

I've heard of ladies expressing in preparation for birth from 36 weeks and now I'm worried as I'm being induced in less than a week.

Is this normal and did it happen to anybody else?

Continue to express and you should notice the colour of the liquid change, good luck

I didn't leak with any of my 3 before they were born. All were breastfed (the 2nd and 3rd exclusively). In fact I am currently hiding upstairs feeding 6mo DC3!

I didn't don't worry. You need stimulation that you get from the baby.

Never bothered with either of mine. One came spontaneously at 38 weeks, one induced also at 38 weeks. Both EBF no supply issues...

I never had anything before the birth and didn't notice any coming out after the birth. I just kept feeding and assumed it was coming out iywim. Don't worry. The baby stimulates your milk production in a different way.

I had nothing before either - I didn't realise it was even a thing! It all went fine once baby was born - their stomachs are so small and they do need to fuss to 'put their order in'. Best wishes!

Thanks everyone!

I had no colostrum and if I'm honest I just waited and didn't even try to squeeze that much, I trusted that when baby arrived (two weeks late!) that my body would do what it needs to, and it did!

If it makes you feel better I had 25ml expressed colostrum before ds was born and wasn't able to feed beyond a couple of weeks during to recurrent mastitis. Your body will know what to do when bubs is here
