CONFUSED! what's the best way to make up formula feeds?

i'm a little confused about the best way to make up formaula feeds!

i'd like to make up 7 feeds in one go, in preparation for the whole day, but i'm unsure as to how to do it!

should i add formula to boiled water whilst still hot? then put all the feeds in the fridge & re-heat when needed?

Or should i put cooled boiled water in the fridge on its own, then reheat and add formula as needed?

How does everyone else do it?
ALso, how do you do it at night? how long can water, or formula, be kept at room temperature before being used?

thanks

ps i'm using cow and gate 'comfort' formula

I used to pre-make bottles for DS but with DD I have several powder dispensers like these (except not silly colours). I fill bottles with boiling water and seal them and leave them to cool. They are then fine for 24 hours without being in the fridge and it is far easier when you are out as you don't have to worry about warming it up from fridge temp - if I put a hot bottle of water in changing bag it is still warm several hours later - add powder - no faff. Also easier for nursery as I can sort out her bottles along with the rest of her stuff the night before.

I make up 6 feeds each morning with scrupliously (?sp) clean and sterilised bottles, use freshly boiled water (from tap not filtered - I have 2 kettles!)that has only been boiled once. Make up feeds while water still hot, cool in bowl of cold water, store in the fridge for 24 hours. When needed, I warm the bottle up as DD won't drink room temp milk - she did in hospital!

At night, I take 2 bottles out of fridge and leave them on my dressing table. when DD wakes, I warm up milk in bottle warmer on my bedside table.

Goes against all guidelines but took sensible advice from my sister - a mother of 5.

DD is 6 weeks old and seems ok to me - haven't poisioned her yet!

similar to Charlie -

I sterilise everything, and make up 3 feeds at a time (enough for 12 hours or so) using boiled water that has stood for 10 minutes - so still hot enough to kill any bacteria in the formula powder.

Then I put the bottles into a bowl of ice water to cool them down as quickly as possible. After they've cooled enough, they go at the back of the fridge.

I take each bottle out as I need it and warm it in the microwave for 30 seconds, just enough to take the chill off, giving it a good shake afterwards to get rid of hot spots.

I used evian and always at room temperature.

If I was keeping them I would sterilise bottles, fill with evian, put in the fridge. When needed I would then warm up to room temperature in a bowl of boiled water and then add the powder from a dispenser.

DS had to wait 5 mins max! he goes from sleeping peacefully to full on hysteria in 5 seconds but over time he has learnt that he has to wait (he's 4 months).

Also use the readymade cartons alot of the time.

Ah yes dassie, ds2 is the Porsche of the "baby waking and starting to scream for food" world.

He can go from zero to full on screaming the house down in less than 6 seconds !
