Multivitamin gummies for a two year old?

All of them say 3+ but DS1s eating is so bad currently that he eats nothing where we can put his usual liquid vitamins. I was wondering if we could give him one of these or if the age limit is due to there being too many vitamins for someone under the age of 3?
He hasn't had his normal vitamins in about 2 months and because his diet is so restricted I would prefer he was having some.

i would mix liquid vitamins in my daughters yogurt theres so much choice is there none that will cover the taste

If you think he can chew and swallow them safely, the gummies are fine. My ds has had them since he was 2 in gummies form with no issues.

Most vitamins tell you the amount of each one there, compare it to the liquid one. I’m lucky that my 2 year old takes the drops off a spoon. I wouldn’t have given him a gummy at just turned 2, now he’s 2.5 I probably would but I’d watch him like a hawk while he chewed and swallowed it.

What about smoothies?

RainRainGoAwayy · 02/04/2019 14:18

@DrWhy which drops do you use? I couldn’t find any that he could take neat.

He also needs iron which is the one difficultly with the chewables. I’ve actually just found chewables in H&B for 2+ which is a start but they don’t contain iron.

I've just got gummies for my 2.5 yo as he keeps getting little bugs from nursery and must need a boost! His drops were gross and I put them in v dilute squash?! I just was forgetting so gummies are easier. My mum broke a bit off it so it was like 2/3rds and he yummed it down!

I tried them with my two year old but he just spat them out. Have resorted to mixing the raspberry flavoured abidec vitamin liquid into his morning porridge and that seems to be working so far.

My health visitor recommended the 3+ chewies for my 2 year old (she said the 3+ is on there for health and safety related to chewing/choking hazard) she said if my 1y/o was a chewer she could take them too (she isn't so I haven't!)

@RainRainGoAway they are the NHS Scotland ones I’m afraid so not very helpful if you are in England. We got the first bottle free from the HV and when they ran out I bought Adibec, which he utterly refused so I hunted around for a pharmacy that stock them. I wonder if your local pharmacy could order them in for you?

DrWhy · 02/04/2019 17:29

Actually looks like the same ones nationally, the bad news is that’s they don’t contain iron. You could try them and if he likes them try the iron in another way?

I have started giving these to my two year old but after the initial novelty wore off she now refuses to eat them.

She does happily eat fortified cereals though. Apricots and raisins are also good for iron and usually toddler friendly.

Hi, we've just had a blood test for our 2 year old boy come back with low vitamin d (less than 25nmol) Does anyone have any experience with this? Should I be worried? What I guess had me worried is that it says he should now be on multivitamin until the age of 16
