DS is 4 weeks today and i’m Still struggling to latch him. Have reached out for help but I can only seem to manage it under guidance of health professionals. Then once i’m On my own again we just can’t get it right and it feels grazed. Anyone else had this?

Update: So my infant feeding team said I shouldn’t worry if there’s a discomfort when DS nurses, my latch is fine and he’s feeding and gaining. So my question now, does anyone else have experience of a baby who is constantly in discomfort from what looks like wind? He won’t sleep unless held, so I can’t sleep and screams blue murder if lying on his back. Have tried infacol, colief, broken feeds, burping, massage, cycling legs, cuddles, holding upright for 30 mins after feeds and god knows what else! A bit desperate now as being told I need to sleep, look after me, but that is pie in the sky when poor baby can’t settle. I’m scared of falling asleep holding him. TIA x

Discomfort isn't so bad, but pain is and you shouldn't put up with it (in case you're minimising). A 4 week old, if term and natural delivery, shouldn't be that difficult to latch if everything is fine. So please do go back if you have further concerns.

Is the burping successful? Have you tried lying on you back (empty bed) with baby across tummy face down (sort of cradle hold)? Even if you're not comfortable sleeping like that, you can at least rest. But when I discovered we could both sleep through (very long) feeds it was life changing. Also baby got less wind like that, different positions work for different babies.
