Best bottle teat for breast feeding mum ?

Hi all, I'm only 8 weeks pregnant but with my first daughter I didn't breastfeed as long as I would of liked too as we ended up combi feeding. This time around I'm determined to exclusively breastfeed because I loved it last time and I don't want to pay for formula again, if this next baby is anything like my last it will cost me a fortune.

I was looking at the MAM anti colic bottles because I personally think they are a god send and really help to prevent colic but I doubt a newborn will take a MAM teat and feed from my breast. I was wondering if there's any bottles and teats that you guys could recommend that would mimic a breast ? I don't want to just buy one and hope for the best as most are quite expensive. Obviously I know every baby is different and will react different but are there any bottles and teats that people really recommend ?

Thankyou ! X

My SIL breast fed and used MAM bottles to combi feed without any issue, she still does now.

From when her daughter was newborn.

My friend also used tommy tippee bottles and breast fed.

I know what you mean about it being expensive though, we started off with TT and then moved to MAM cos my DS was so windy/colicky. We've not looked back!

I used the Medela Calma ones when I had to use some formula with mine. They aren't free flow and require a slightly more breastfeeding action to get milk out. There are probably other similar ones available.

I used Philips Avent Natural ones and combination fed successfully for over a year. We just kept with their size 0 then 1 teats all the way through so DS had to work for the milk and didn't get bottle preference.

We used Nuk bottles with the latex teats, rather than silicone - DD took to them so well after refusing other types.

We used NUK teats when combi feeding. Ds wouldn’t tolerate anything silicone, and the NUK ones are latex. Was slightly more expensive as you have to change them more often - they can go a bit gummy, but was worth the few extra pounds

The best advice I had for bottles and dummies was to look at the shape of your nipple after a feed and choose the closest teat to that shape.

The thing about babies is that they are all different. Some babies want the bottle feeding experience to be as similar to the breastfeeding experience as possible--slow flow teat shaped like the mother's nipple, bottle-nursed in arms with milk warmed to blood temperature and so on. Other breastfed babies will only take a bottle stone cold, sitting upright in a bouncy chair etc., and I have known quite a few who decide that they will only drink from the cheap-o supermarket own-brand bottle which wasn't even supposed to be for breastfeeding babies! Others hold out until they are given a sippy cup or straw cup.

You can try any of the above, but be prepared to switch if your baby decides they don't like it. Maybe buy just one to start with and see if your baby is happy with it before investing in a whole bunch of said bottles.

Mine refused all teats and we ended up having to spoon-feed EBM whenever I went out, until we started solids!

Thankyou everyone ! I think I will get one of the munchkin latch bottles and then I can always switch is it doesn't suit baby or if they won't take that and my breast. Thankyou all x
