Ds2 is 6 months and STILL feeds every 2.5 to 3 hours overnight. When will he stretch it out? I'm really struggling!

Ds2 is exclusively bf and really is the most appalling sleeper (waking anytime from every 40 mins to 3 hours, from when he goes to bed until he gets up - at 5am) so I'm seriously struggling with sleep deprivation now. I've got the No Cry Sleep Solution which is helping him to fall asleep without feeding but he still doesn't go any longer than 3 hours.

He's been on solids for a few weeks (desperation made me do it early and it made sod all difference) but still only has fruit, veg and a bit of rice. I haven't introduced any protein or what based carbs yet.

What i really want to know is, when will I be able to know for sure that he doesn't need a feed after 3 hours. At the moment if he wakes before 2.5 hours from his previous feed then I try to settle him without food, if it's been longer than 2.5 hours then I just feed him.

I'm not sure if I'm exacerbating the sleep problems by doing that but I still feel that he probably does need food. He only manages one breast at each waking before he falls back to sleep whereas in the day he demands both sides so I'm not sure if that makes a difference to how long he lasts.

I just want to have more than 2.5 hours sleep at a stretch sometime soon, PLEASE?!

Dh works away in the week so I do tend to co sleep after the midnight-ish wake up. It does make it a bit easier but then I panic that I'm making his sleeping worse .

I don't think he's teething, my other 2 were late teethers and there's no real symptoms there. I have tried Nelsons Teetha granule a couple of time but it didn't make any difference.
