HELP! Growth spurt, engorgement, oversupply

Dd is EBF, 8 weeks. Seems she’s going through the 6-8 week growth spurt. Fussy in the evening and cluster feeding but sleeping a bit longer at night (11-5). I’m waking up with fairly full and uncomfortable breasts , happy to let her keep sleeping but don’t want to decrease my supply or get blocked ducts. (Was sleeping 11-2 or 3, so I think this means I’m “skipping” a feed now?) Also as supply has increased I’m spraying out so much milk that when she latches on she coughs and chokes and pulls off and it sprays all over her face Confused How can I better manage this?

It's fine to let her sleep and unless you're expressing while she sleeps, your supply will adjust to this so there's no wed to worry. Smile

As for the forceful letdown, Kellymom has this to say or you could call one of the BFing Helplines?

I find that it usually takes around 3 days for your body to adjust to an ongoing change like this. Kellymom is a great resource- I’m sure she says this but laid back feeding, so milk flow is against gravity, and catching the initial spray in a bottle or a cloth can help. Google laid back feeding if you’re not sure, it’s great Smile
