Hi I am new to Mums net, we have a 4 going on 5 month baby still being breast fed and he's happy with this although it is becoming a little tediuos as he is growing at a tremendous and need alot of milk! We tried him on Aptamil bottle formula which made him sick and he came out in a horrible rash al over his body followed with vomiting - I wanted to ask if anyone had the same experience first time moving to Aptamil bottle formula?

Sorry Kilcullen, we had a Sma baby in this house. Bumping up the thread may help though. Good luck!

Kilcullen, would it be possible he has an intolerance to cows' milk? DS had severe eczema during his first year and I tried most formulas in the market and I'm sorry to say that comparatively speaking, Aptamil was the best for him with a difference.

I would have him checked by the GP before trying any other brand.

Sounds like you need to stick to breastfeeding, it's got to be less tedious than cleaning up sick. He will get quicker at it and his growth will slow. And it sounds as if it is the best thing for him.

Go to your doctor as vomiting and a rash is a severe allergic reaction and it could be worse next time he is exposed to milk. You should have testing before giving him formula again - any brand. I wouldn't even try goat or soy without a doctors say so.

Have you only given the one bottle?

Kilcullen (nice name!) - toddlerbob and I share the same idea. Bf makes your baby happy and he has no health problems on it.....he may be going through a stage where he has a larger than usual appetite but it's likely to pass. Anyway, sitting feeding could be less hard work than caring for a sicky, uncomfortable baby and making up bottles, as tb says
