Hi my ds who is 6 and a half months has started to smack his lips together when feeding will initially start to feed then pulls off smacking lips together and sucking tongue! When dream feeding at night he does not do this but all other times he keeps having a few sucks then pulls off and smacks lips...he does not seem upset but just does not feed very well due to being on/off/on/off the boob!!

Has anyone had the same thing happen?

Thanks

sounds like he's warming up for solids and want's to start trying out his eating techiniques (although you don't say whether or not have started on solids).

I only say this because it's what DS2 does whenever he is hungry and it's how I sussed he was ready for solids at 19 weeks.

Agree with suzywong. They can make quite a racket, can't they! I stopped feeding dd in public after a couple of similar episodes.

hi, my ds does the same, same age! I like to think he's giving me appreciation for the tasty drink..he also gets 3 meals a day. I also find that I never feel he's had such a proper feed as there isn't one point I can think 'right he's finished', his attention just constantly goes until I give up! I guess it's just taking more from solids and so not being so hungry for milk, as well and honing those techniques as suzywong says though it is so important to perserve giving plenty for milk for many more months.

hi helesbelles...funny isnt it...he looks really cute I just worry he is not having enough milk but as you say they seem quite happy so no doubt they are having enough. Went to bed at 6.30 doing that put him in his cot and went straight to sleep...ahhh
