fussy eating and slapped cheek?

I have a 18 month old. He usually is a fantastic eater but the last few weeks have gone down the pan. Fussy eating, wont always have his tea or dinner and eating very minimal such as a "baby bell" or some "organic crisps" and that type of stuff. Nighttime before bed he will have cheerios. My wife still breast feeds a couple of times a day. Normally always a good eater!

He has recently been diagnosed with slapped cheek syndrome but this was after the fussy eating started. The temperature has come down and the rash on cheeks has cleared quiet a lot but he has has a mottled body rash which were told is normal after the cheeks.

So my specific questions are.

Do 18 month olds usually go through fussy eating phases? what can we do to get back on track? Could snacks and breastmilk be having an impact?

To double check, anyones elses baby had slapped cheek and then had body rash few days later, and for how long?

Please take the time to reply! cheers

When he’s ill the absolute best thing you can do is BF, if anything I’d be upping the BFs rather than thinking if reducing them. Did you know that BM is not nutritious but it will also help him to get better. Have a read of this on Kellymom.

It’s perfectly normal for them to be fussy when poorly too. I’d let LO eat what they want and BF when they want. You can go back to the normal rountine when they’re well Smile
