How to stop bf?

DS is 17mo and still bf. He can go without as he does when I'm at work and if we're together but doing something then he doesn't think about it. If we're home and whenever I'm sitting down he's on and off all day.

I was planning on stopping when he wanted. I thought it would naturally tail off when I went back to work. But now he's at tantrumming age he really fights for it.

I'm now 10 weeks pg and my nipples are really sore. I'm also worried about bf a new baby and a toddler and any jealousies it might raise.

What's the best way to stop?

He will probably self wean as your pregnancy moves forward. For now I would explain to him that there’s no boob milk in the daytimes anymore, and perhaps keep feeding for morning/nighttime’s if you’re happy doing 2 feeds per day for a bit, then cut down to one. Then I’d be very surprised if it didn’t tail off, as the milk changes with pregnancy and most toddlers don’t seem to want it so much anymore. It will give your boobs time to adjust as well so you don’t get engorged. I think distraction is key if he asks in the day, but it won’t take long for him to forget.

Could you maybe limit breastfeeding to one chair of something, so he knows when he can ask without limiting it as such. And then slowly sit there less often?

Or, depending on the child, Some kind of 'saving milk for the baby like a really kind big brother' story?

Normally, I'd say just have a crazily busy couple of weeks and hope that puts a stop to it. But, that's probably not what you want it you're pregnant.

If all else fails he might decide he doesn't like it when your milk starts changing.

How often do you feed him? My milk dried up totally around 16wks in preg, but we were only feeding once a day by then, she was a little older.
