Experience of 1year + year olds still with silent reflux

Anyone out there? My DS still struggles with silent reflux. He's been on ranitidine pretty much since birth, ebf. We did try omeprazole for a time but it didnt help. He had a hosp appointment this week as a result of it not going. Hes also dropped 2 percentile lines since birth, refuses to drink cows milk and is probably only having 50-100ml tops of water a day...

Dairy intolerance is quite common with reflux. Have you tried hypoallergenic milk?

Both my DDs had reflux for several years. DD1 is now 10 and still suffers occasionally but this is due to hypermobility. Both DDs were dairy intolerant and did much better dairy free.

If you have not tried prescription milk such as Nutramigen or Neocate, this could be worth asking about, although they do taste pretty bad so your DC might refuse it. The other alternative is coconut or soya milk.

Hmm dairy intolerance was something the GP touched on but DS doesn't suffer from frothy nappies or any other indicative symptoms so we never really pursued it. Ranitidine has helped at times, we actually had a great spell from 7 to 9 months old with no flares so I actually wanted to wean him off it in the hope he had grown out of the reflux like most do (we didnt in the end). It was shortly after he had the worst flate up he had had since birth which lasted about 3 weeks. He just arches his back and cries alot during bad spells and very very occasionally is sick. On that occasion he wouldn't eat either though. He still wakes alot in the night. For whatever reason he is affected badly at swimming class too?! But that may be from being on his back at times.

He eats ALOT of yoghurt, has whole milk in his porridge and does enjoy cream etc with no obvious (vomiting etc) effects. We're hoping the hosp appointment will shed more light but I will mention the possibility of an intolerance and the alternative milks to see what is said. Thank you
