Can anyone help? Bf related low mood?

Hi all,
I recently returned to work and am away from my 10 month old for 14 hrs at a time. I express twice during this time, not getting much milk though. The first two weeks were ok but this week I feel pretty low/anxious and emotional. Could this be related to hormonal changes from not feeding as much? Or should pumping be enough?

It's really upsetting me, I feel I can't do my job but I need to be professional. I think a hormonal change would be short term but I'm afraid it might be sonething more serious.

Feeding less or stopping BFing can cause a low mood for a short time but I personally didn’t find it so bad that it affected my job. If it’s that severe, I’d give it a few days and then talk to your GP.

Look after yourself in the meantime OP. Plenty of cuddles with your LO, some gentle exercise, eat well and maybe do sone meditation Thanks

I bf mine and I felt low when I was apart from them. If I had regular cuddles then I felt ok. I was a sahm so my situation was different but believe it is hormonal. Just wanted to send you 💐

I think feeling low is far more likely to be related to being away from your tiny baby than due to hormones.

Thank you all. As suggested, I think I'll keep an eye for a few days and maybe then see gp if no improvement. When I stopped bfing my older child completely I definitely had a few weeks of low moods etc but didn't notice any difference going back to work last time. I only work 3 days so didn't think it would be enough to cause hormonal changes

Google DMER breastfeeding Smile

I had this with DC1. So far doesn't seem to have happened with DC2

Thanks pasta, I've had a quick Google but I don't think it could be dmer as its not specific to when I'm pumping or feeding? An interesting read however.
