Should I wake my baby at night for feeds?

I’m a new Mum (DD is 4
weeks old) and I am getting conflicting advice around whether or not to wake my baby at night for feeds. Typically she will have her last feed between 10pm and 1am (she often cluster feeds during this time, has wind or is just generally unsettled) then sleep for about 4 hours, wake and feed, and then sleep for another 4 hours. However, last night she slept for 6 hours straight before waking up. I had an alarm set for 4am which would have been 4 hours since her last feed, but she was sound asleep so I left her. She has been gaining weight and producing plenty of wet nappies. Is it ok to leave her at night to wake naturally for a feed? I’m just concerned she may not gain weight if I don’t wake her for feeds. On the other hand, I am appreciating the sleep at night!! Many sites online say to wake her to feed, but surely she would let me know if she was hungry? Any advice greatly appreciated!

No I wouldnt, not going on what you've said. There's no need.

I've never woken a baby to feed ever, and both of mine were born on the small side. If weight gain is normal, leave her! DC2 loved sleeping and easily slept 4-6 hour stretches and even occasionally through the night at 1-2 months old. And I exclusively breastfed as well so that seemed kind of unusual. Unless there is a health/weight concern I say enjoy the rest.

6h sounds ok at 4 weeks. Enjoy while it lasts. It will all change again soon!

Unless she is underweight or was premature I'm under the impression there is no need to wake her.

Once babies have regained Ned their birth weight, there's no need to wake for feeds.

It's been a few years but I never woke mine up for a feed. They will tell you when they are hungry.

With bfing 3 babies, I have never ever set an alarm for them. She is your alarm. If she is content and peaceful them all is well.

Let her sleep. She will adjust her milk intake naturally by feeding more in her awake times.

Don't wake her!

My dd did this and I just let her sleep. She fed frequently during the day, lots of nappies and gained weight so I saw no need to wake her.

I think as long as you get baby weighed regularly. I imagine if baby was to start losing weight they would advise you on whether or not you should wake to feed.
