Can I exclusively express and feed the baby?!

Breastfeeding isn't going well - I've tried correcting a tongue tie, various latches and breastfeeding counselling but I'm in incredible amounts of pain and it's starting to affect my mental health.

Has anybody got any experience of expressing full time and bottle feeding the baby breast milk?

Thanks - a hopeful breast feeder :(

I used one at a time then it's less sterilising

You don't need to sterilise breast pumps or bottles used exclusively for breast milk every time you use them, once a day is sufficient x

So many great tips! I have my 'make of break' breastfeeding counselling session tomorrow so will bear all of these things in mind.... currently three hours into a very unsettled cluster feeding session. Send me good vibes Confused

Just recheck the tongue tie thing.. DS went undiagnosed until I realised he definitely had one well after he was weaned. He gad to have a GA to divide it as a 2 yo.

I did for 6 months with months 1-6 being exclusively expressed breast milk.

Honestly, it really impacted my mental health. It’s the worst of both worlds in many ways and I found it harder to express in front of people than to bf (when I was able to bf my DC2 and DC3).

My advice would be to set a limit of a few weeks or a month. Any longer is just exhausting and isolating.
