did anyone find aptamil 3 too heavy?

my ds was bf until 6 months when i introduced a bottle of aptamil 1 every night. Then i switched to aptamil 3, it took me 3 months to realise it didnt suit him as he kept waking every night crying with tummy pain. Anyway i switched back to 1 as he digests it much better-however am worried about his iron intake as he hardly eats a thing and is not really putting on weight...can anyone advise what milk i should give him now that he is 12 months?

my ds didnt do great on aptamil 3 - he was used to aptamil 2 (hungry milk). If your lo is 1 year then they can have full fat cows milk - there is no need to keep using formula whether it is first milk or follow on milk. Green leafy veg and meats are sources of iron.

my ds3 is on that growing up milk stuff from aptamil. i feel like such a mug every time i buy it. i want him on normal milk, but last few times we tried it he spewed it all up. i think we tried soya too. and goats. wouldnt have any of it. likes his aptimil.
reminds me, im gonna give it another g, trying to get him off it (is so unneccessary i think)
any tips on how would be much appreciated!

oh, and dont worry about weight... they grow in fits and starts, not a steady slope... if he were starving youd know all about it.

with regards to his (un)varied diet... all you can do is keep intoducing and reintroducing lots of diff foods. and try not to get worked up about how much he eats or doesnt. my ds2 for eg will eat like a horse for a week or so, then hardly seem to eat anything much (but gobble down his normal full fat milk bottles) for days and days on end... hes fine.

theres loads of tip and info on here but a couple of other things i found helped my dc eat more were:
-having a small table and chair and letting them come and go from the meal with only occasional and gentle encouragement to return for more (pressurising them to eat is counterproductive). now they are getting a bit older i insist on them staying at table more.
-when there was just one of them, having a chair that could come up to normal table height and eating with him, same food.
-lots of finger foods. and not getting at all uptight about mess.
-giving v small portions, so they can finish the plate from time to time, and maybe even have the pleasure of asking for more and being praised/made a fuss of for it.

Full fat cows milk ? How much milk does he have atm - perhaps he would eat more solids if he cut down ?

I'm going to start him on cows milk soon, as i do give him vitamin drops anyway.
I always try food first when hes due to be hungry, he only ever has 2 baby spoon fulls and then cries and is only happy after milk, i do try and cut milk but he really doesnt eat anymore even with less milk. Im trying not to stress as he's been like this since 6 months...nappiegalore thanks for your messages, i think you've helped me in the past too, thanks for responding again

If he ate anything i would try and give him leafy veggys and red meat but he eats so little its really hard-to give you an idea, fromage frais is prob his favourite thing, it takes him a whole day to eat one pot!!

Im hoping its cos hes been teething for the last 6 months!
