Is SMA the only formula milk without fish oil?

I've only had a quick look but most of them seem to have fish oil in them now, not suitable for veggie babies. Wondering if anyone knew of any others?

Thanks

I think Cow and Gate Organic has no fish oil in either.

Bibi - this is the sort of question you can call the formula manufacturers' helplines about. I really don't know how people on here can be so certain about which formulas have which oils in them - my understanding is that formulations change, anyway.

If you want to avoid all animal based products, you'll need to check for other animal oils, too. Some formulas contain beef tallow (or did - as I say, ingredients change) and the other ingredients may derive from animal products.

maisym · 01/06/2007 23:29

perhaps they read the list of ingredients.

bewilderbeast · 02/06/2007 10:00

Tiktok I can be certain that Hipp Organic doens't contain fish or any other animal derived oils because it is a vegetarian formula. I wouldn't randomly tell someone that a formula was suitable for vegetarians if I wasn't sure. I'm not that irresponsible, and frankly I find your post a bit offensive, which is a shame because I normally think your posts are very well constructed and helpful.

Sorry, bewilderbeast, it was late....I should have been more measured.

Don't take offence, please

Maisy, reading the list of ingredients is no help - fat sources are not always identified that closely, for a start, and other added ingredients may be identified by their chemical name, not where they come from. I mean, I have no idea where the added ingredient 'taurine' comes from when it's added to infant formula - taurine can come from animal or vegetable sources. The manufacturers would be able to tell you, though.

none taken if we were on a certain other baby website we'd hug but I'm not that mushy

Thanks guys. Not intending to ff but ended up that way with dd so keeping my options open at the moment. May drop a few manufacturers an email, see what they say.

Let us not forget the recent Mars Bar debacle.

BibiThree · 04/06/2007 15:16

I was almost in tears about Mars bars! Thank goodness they changed their minds!
