Will I ever fit back into my old bra's after bfeeding

Just wondered....I've been breastfeeding for 10months so far and no real idea when I will stop.

I have a whoel drawer of lovely bras which are 34Bs and I am now 38Cs.. .thank you DS.

Will my boobs go back? Or should I just chuck em out? They're in my way (and kind of depressing me as nursing bras are so bloody awful)

I never went back to my old size —but I might have put a bit of weight on— Smile

RidingMyBike · 06/08/2018 16:19

I'm wondering the same thing. Stopped BFing three weeks ago - DD 2.7 yrs. Still got milk there (when does it go?!?!)

Was a 32AA. Now a 34DD. Want my old boobs back!

jasminemaya · 06/08/2018 16:21

Mine went back to their original size just a bit droopier. Small sacrifice for providing 9 months of nutrition to my DC

FreckledLeopard · 06/08/2018 16:24

Mine never went back and are still two sizes larger (17 years on). Even when I went down to almost pre-pregnancy weight, my breasts were still much bigger.

I miss my old, perky, little breasts Sad

ISeeTheLight · 06/08/2018 16:27

Nope mine never went back - I went up 4 sizes when BFing, dropped one after I stopped. So I was up 3 sizes compared to before my pregnancy.

also - get yourself measured at Bravissimo as you're unlikely to actually be a 38C - I'm a band 38 but size 18/20. You'll probably find you're a 32F or something like that!

ChipsAndMoreChips · 06/08/2018 16:38

Mine seem to be smaller and less full. Hate them.

Jellybabie3 · 06/08/2018 21:59

Oh well. Bras are out then. I may well get measured for new ones soon. I am back to work in October so I will hopefully only feed DS in the morning and night. I hope to wear non nursing bras then...??

I asked about it in Jan when I went to get measured and the fitter said they recommended wearing non-wired bras if still nursing, although don't have to be specifically nursing bras with the clips. I fed from 1 yr to 2.7 yrs only once or twice a day so didn't need to worry about whether or not I was wearing a nursing bra.

lorisparkle · 06/08/2018 22:28

I can just about wear my old bras although I think my rib cage expanded so have gone from 32A to a 34A. I did bf 3 dc for 15 months each so it wasn’t for a while after ds3 that I was able to squeeze into my old ones. If I had known I was going to spend nearly 6 years being pregnant, breastfeeding or both I would have bought lovely maternity bras!

BaronessBomburst · 06/08/2018 22:54

I was a 32FF before, fed for 4 yrs at 34K, and am back to a 32FF again.
All in all my bras languished in the drawer for about six years and the elastic went in my two favourites. :(

RidingMyBike · 07/08/2018 06:40

@BaronessBomburst how long did it take to go back down to your original size?

pantosaurus · 07/08/2018 06:58

Just for balance as everyone's telling you that boobs will be ruined... mine are pretty much back to the exact same size and shape. (32DD) Tiny bit less upright after 2 rounds of breastfeeding and of course 5 years older but still look pretty good I/DH think.

My ribcage stayed a fraction bigger after second pregnancy as I now can't zip up one very fitted dress but it's not that noticeable otherwise, I just use a looser hook on the back of bras. If this is what's happened to you you can use bra extenders to still wear old bras if the cup size fits.

pantosaurus · 07/08/2018 07:03

Also, at 10 months into feeding I only used the ugly nursing bras round the house/in bed. Just wear something nicer. Feeding frequency is so much lower. Buy something cheap and pretty from the supermarket in your current bigger size to make you feel better until you get back to normal. Don't chuck out all your good smaller ones as they may be fine again. Maybe put them away in a suitcase for now if they are making you feel bad.

QueenAravisOfArchenland · 07/08/2018 07:08

My boobs were back to pre-pregnancy size about 12 months later although I continued to feed. They're bigger again now with breastfeeding #2 so who knows.
It's fine to wear underwired bras when you're nursing as long as they fit and don't compress your milk making tissue. I'd get sized at Bravissimo - I also seriously doubt you are now a 38 band unless you put on a very large amount of weight in pregnancy and haven't lost any. I am a size 8-10 and was 28FF/G pre pregnancy, go up to 30GG when feeding.

donkeysandzebras · 07/08/2018 07:14

I'm the same size but a different shape so, whilst my old bras still fitted around the ribs, the cup shape wasn't particularly flattering.
I wore underwired nursing bras once feeding was established with DC2. They were much more comfortable. I was happy to use them as I was aware of the symptoms of blocked ducts etc so knew what to look out for.

I went down a bra size (from what I was pre baby) after stopping breastfeeding

Pythonesque · 07/08/2018 08:46

I was back in similar size to pre-pregnancy within a few months of stopping feeding - stopped around 15 months with both.

BaronessBomburst · 07/08/2018 09:45

@RidingMyBike about 12 months after I stopped feeding I think. It took me that long to shift the last of the weight. I was in my 40s too by that point, so there is hope for everyone!

BaronessBomburst · 07/08/2018 09:51

Also agree about wearing an underwired bra. In fact I've had arguments with Bravissimo and ranty posts about it on here. A good fitting, unwired bra, once feeding is established, is not a problem and infinitely preferable to the shapeless sag that is a nursing bra. In fact I got mastitis from sleeping in my nursing bra, as per the guidelines, as the elastic on the rib cage moved and crushed the breast tissue. They also offer very poor support to larger breasted women. I switched to underwired bras after the first year and the difference to my appearance and self-esteem was huge.

RidingMyBike · 07/08/2018 11:25

@BaronessBomburst that's interesting, thank you! I don't need to lose any weight (had diabetes in pregnancy so ended up weighing less after the birth than before I got pregnant!) it's just the boobs that are still four cup sizes bigger than before and driving me a bit bonkers!

midnight1983 · 07/08/2018 11:43

I stopped breastfeeding at 9 months and they went back to original bra size about a year after that. I was going up and down in weight though so that may have been more of a factor.

Bobbybobbins · 07/08/2018 11:45

Mine went back to their original size the week after I stopped feeding but they were never the same again!

arbrighton · 07/08/2018 18:36

Interesting @Baronessbomburst as Bravissimo were perfectly happy to fit me with an underwired nursing bra last month

I'm still feeding at 13 mo. No clue whether my lovely pre pregnancy underwear is ever going to be an option again

Jellybabie3 · 07/08/2018 22:24

Hmm ok. Maybe i should get some new bras (albeit i am broke at the end of maternity!)

I may do as suggested and box the old ones up...you never know!!)

Thank you
