Fresh cows milk intollerance

My daughter is now 16 months old and has been drinking UHT cow's milk since 12 months. This is because when we gave her fresh cow's milk she was having diarrhoea nappies up to 7 times a day, she's fine with UHT.
I thought it was really weird so I spoke to my health visitor who said it was quite common. My daughter can tolerate cheese butter, formula milk and yoghurt but not fresh cow's milk. She's been formula-fed since 3 months old. The health visitor advised that it is something to do with altered cow's milk proteins. Apparently the pasteurization/sterilisation process that yoghurts and cheeses go through alters the protein but doesn't get rid of it but obviously fresh cow's milk doesn't go through this process but UHT does.
I am now thinking of starting her on some soya milk instead which she seems to enjoy but would you say it was a suitable alternative to cow's milk? I must admit I do think it is weird that we are encouraged to drink other animals milkGrin.
What are your thoughts?

Please don’t give her Soy if she’s having problems with the protein in milk. Around half if all people with CMPA also have problems with soy as the protein molecules are so similar.

Although the recommendation is for her to have 300 ml of full fat cows milk a day you can get away with not giving it. Just make sure she gets enough protein, fat and calcium. Things like salmon are food. She can have oily fish upto twice a week and plenty of good fats and green, leafy veg.
