I feel like I really missed out last time my DS was induced at week 38 and my milk never came in even after trying to express for two weeks! Is there anything I can do to help it along this time as I really want to bf DC2?

Also could being induced early have made a difference my DS really didnt want to come so had a very druggy long labour!

I think you need the baby to suck, not a pump for starters. I had trouble getting my body to produce milk. You can buy motillium, but it isn't cheap. I did this fro about 4 months, then gave up and went to the bottle. He was always partly bottle fed due to lack of supply.

After a few days i bottle fed my ds as he was crying all the time due to no milk I just hope its better this time around

tlsm you need to speak to a nice breastfeeding counsellor, who will be able to help you work out what went wrong and make suggestions for what to do this time. (and yes i believe you are right, early induction messes with milk production hormones)

do you need numbers? they are on hunker's profile but i don't know what her current name is.

i was thinking about joining the NCt as they have counsellors

What about getting a doula / maternity nurse to come in and help you for say the first week or two. Probably more suited to a doule / breast feeding counselor.

You might want to start another thread ans ask for mears or Pupuce or Marsy. They could probably advise much better than I could.

you don't have to join anything, volunteers give free phone advice. bf network woman was fantastic and helped me no end.

i think you should trust in your body. you were made so that you could provide milk for a baby. I had emergencya dn elective c sections with my babies. my milk took ages (4 days) to come in with both. during thoses days my babies were almost constantly sucking at me - and if tehy weren't they were crying! im glad i had a good friend who urged me not to give up. It was worth it ad i sucessfully fed them both for 6 mths
