14m old won't hold own bottle/cup

Hi!

Any advice appreciated -

My 14m old will not hold his own bottle/sippy cup. It might be worth mentioning he was 2m premature and has a corrected age of 12m.

He has drank from his sippy cup independently, but these times are few and far in between.

How can I encourage or teach him to hold his own bottles/sippy cups?

Baby #2 is due in a couple of months so I would like my 14m old to have a little more independence re feeding by then!

Thanks in advance!

I’m not sure on that one sorry. Is he able to do it himself? Does he just want the cuddles?

Mine had zero interest in holding her own cup. At 3 she would also be spoon fed every meal if we let her. She was also prem but I think she's just lazy. She can do these things but prefers not to!

I would only give bottle morning and night( possibly nap) and associate it with bed and cuddles and have sippy cup for
meals and in between drinks with loads of modelling by the rest of family, little friends etc add in the usual positivity and over the top congratulations !if you are worried about lack of liquid ; you could make the meals a bit more wet for a few days eg soup, fruit, yoghourt, cucumber, stew etc .i agree she probably finds it easier and so can't see the point of the extra effort!
