is this true? ds has now slept 10pm - 5am 3 nights this week with last feed at 8.30pm. now feeds every 2 hours in the day instead of every 4 before. he is 4 weeks old. i saw on another thread you said missing the night feeds could affect supply, is this true? what should i do then?

it could be a growth spurt maveta - so he is feeding more to stimulate greater supply. best to ring one of the helplines just to check and discuss exactly how often he's feeding etc. have you got numbers?

My health visitor told me that it is best to feed at least once in the night until the baby is 6 weeks old, as a certain hormone is only produced at night.

It's the hormone prolactin - the one that controls milk production. It doesn't ONLY work at night, but it is much more responsive to stimulation at night, so night feeding is a really good way to establish and maintain a good supply.

That said, if he is feeding regularly during the day (at least 8-12 feeds in 24 hours is about right at this age) and had plenty of wet and dirty nappies, seems content, it shouldn't be a problem. Enjoy it while you can maveta - it probably won't last anyway!

I am a bfc btw.
