Please excuse the totally self-indulgent tone of this thread .
The bf midwife who came to see ds2 when I noticed his tongue tie has randomly phoned and asked if I would like to train to be a bf peer supporter through surestart...can I allow myself a small of chuffedness?? And has anybody else done the course - is it good/any suggestions etc?

Thank you, lulu When she asked it made me think of people like you, and tiktok and mears etc...I wonder if, along with supporting bfing mothers, I can also convert new masses to mumsnet...

Ooh, you should be chuffed! Anyway you've had good practice troubleshooting two sisters' BF already and a .

peer support is just sooooo important, and so much more approachable in some ways than HCPs

best of luck with it !

2Happy · 23/05/2007 14:31

Well I thought that, Liath - I've had either first or close-second hand experience of cracks, mastitis (whatever TOB may say!), tongue tie, EBM, good feeders and bad feeders...plus all the stories I've read on MN!

So....2Happypeersupportperson, tell me - when can I expect to actually ENJOY this BF thing then?? Ds seems to be enjoying it immensely .

2Happy · 23/05/2007 14:42

With ds1 it did take a while I must admit - probably when he was about ds2's age and it all seemed a bit less....what's the word?...saparophytic?!! Much quicker with ds2, though as with everything second time round the enjoyment is more laid-back and natural and less shout-it-from-the-rooftops. No wonder you feel drained with your wee (?) man cluster-feeding away! (incidently, did your iron levels ever recover??)

i'm a sure start breastfeeding peer supporter, the course is great apparently much more info and training then midwives get (one of my friends who did the course is also a midwife) and it is great being able to help people to feed their babies, although i do sometimes feel like banging my head against a brick wall when health visitors advise the ladies i'm supporting to give formula grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

vinorouge · 24/05/2007 20:30

2hapy - I would be chuffed to pieces so allow yourself to feel super duper!!!!!!!!

2Happy · 25/05/2007 08:45

More training than a mw gets, huh? Somehow I don't find that difficult to believe, daisybo!
