Wondering if anyone has any advice??
My baby is now 3 weeks old and I'm breast feeding and also bottle feeding formula, I have a tommee tippee prep machine to make bottles when needed which make the bottle in around 2 minutes at room temp ready for baby to drink. However can these bottles be stored for example if I make one of these bottles and baby falls asleep can it be put in the fridge and stored for a matter of time?? I know the bottle has to be used within the hour of me making it but if I put it in the fridge is it safe to use or does it need to be thrown away it's just a lot of formula gets wasted because I don't store the bottle because I'm not sure if I can or not can anyone help??

According to this UNICEF leaflet yiu can store made feeds for 24 hours at the back of the fridge, I’d recommend getting a fridge thermometer if you’re thinking of doing this.

However, this guide assumes that you have added boiling water to the powder to sterilise it and I don’t know if the prefect prep does this. As there’s some pretty nasty bacteria that can be found in the powder, it might be worth checking if it does this before you decide to store the feeds.

Don’t mean to scare you, but if it was me, I’d want to know the facts before making a decision Smile

I’m a big perfect prep fan but personally would discard if baby didn’t end up having the bottle or didn’t finish a feed as the bottle hadn’t been made with all hot water. It might be erring on the side of caution but I think better safe than sorry. This never happened to me in a year of bottle feeding though as DD was in a routine once we started using it (we used ready made for the first few weeks as the smallest feed the PP made was 4oz) so always drank at least three quarters of the bottle. Also she’s a glutton!

If baby has drunk from the bottle it needs to be used within an hour.
I assume that's what you mean?
Or do you mean that the baby is falling asleep in the two minutes that it takes to make the bottle?
