Smelly green poo - Fungus infection?

Hi all,

A bit of a long one, sorry, but looking to see if anyone has experienced similar

Some background:
My baby is exclusively breastfed
At 3 weeks she got diagnosed with thrush after having green poo, nappy rash, fussiness and I had sore nipples. No sign of thrush in her mouth
I initially had her checked out because she was very grunty and clearly uncomfortable lying down
One week later her grunting had gotten so bad she wasn’t sleeping. Diagnosed with silent reflux and given Ranitidine. I cut out milk.
At the same time dr took swabs of her mouth and my nipples (one week after starting Daktarin) and it came back negative for thrush
Ranitidine seemed to work well and she got better, weaned off the Ranitidine and just wedged.

She’s now 8 weeks old
This weekend I accidentally had milk which caused a couple of bloody poo’s, Paediatrician said not to worry and just to be more careful
At the same time she became fussy on the breast again, my nipples got sore and she got very windy. She has subsequently done some awful smelling green poo’s and seems very gassy compared to normal.

I think she must have another infection, unrelated to the milk allergy as it’s been 3 days since I’m certain I’ve not had any. Could a fungus infection, but not thrush, be causing this? It’s definitely not a feeding issue.

I’m so concerned that if this is an infection we can fight it quickly before the silent reflux is back - was a nightmare and so upsetting to see her in pain. I also need to work out where the infection is coming from and how to stop this keep happening.

Has anyone else experienced this?

When you say cutting out milk, do you mean ‘milk’ or all cows milk containing products ie milk, cheese, butter, cream, yoghurts and anything made using them?

Slimy green poop and windy definitely sounds like cows milk has got through to your baby somehow and it does take a while to settle down again

Sorry yes I mean absolutely anything containing milk. The blood came with normal yellow poo but it’s since been green and smelly which was why I wondered if they’re unrelated (milk and or fungus?)
