Hi i am new to mumsnet and looking to hear off anyone who is in or has been in a similar situation....
My LO is just over 6 weeks and been on aptamil first since birth with no issues. Just over a week ago he started to get blobs of mucus in his poops, since then they have got more mucusy and increased in frequency- he is going around 8-10x a day!!!
We went for our 6 week check on tues with gp and i took a nappy to show her, she said she was stumped and had never heard of this and would ask about and let me know. So the next day still concerned i phoned my hv who suggested straight away allergy to milk or his body just struggling to digest the milk and may need comfort milk, she said to monitor it over the next few days and then talk to hv again on weds when im due to see her.
Anyway since then im still concerned so rang gp and asked to speak to someone else who fobbed me off even more saying just to monitor it and that it codnt be a reaction to the milk as it would have shown up before now as hes been on it since birth.
Apart from this he is otherwise quite a happy baby. He fusses on some bottles and is very trumpy but that is about it.
Any thoughts anyone? Should i give comfort milk a go? Or take to out of hours go for advice? Sorry for long post just feeling completely useless.... 🙄

I would just monitor it for now if he seems otherwise well, then speak to the HV on Wednesday. Hopefully it will have settled down by then. It could just be a minor virus that will clear up on its own.

Mucus in poo can be a sign of non-ige Cow’s Milk Protein Allergy OP.

I hope by now you got your answer and have had the baby put on a hypoallergenic formula like neocate or elecare. I am in the states.....the doctors here know of milk snd multiple protein intolerance but regular pediatricians are hesitant to diagnose. For both my boys i had to go to a pediatric gastroenterologist. The regular doctors make you feel like a crazy mom.
