going to start giving DS2 one bottle a day (rest of time he's BF), and I have a dum formula question!

using cow and gate comfort - can I make up the bottle, cool in down and use later - it says you have to use immediatley but I'm sure I remember with DS1 that we used to make them cool them down then reheat them later.

I roughly tested the milk temp last night after cooling it for 30 minmutes and I was quite amazed to see/feel that 30 minutes cooling makes it almost exactly the temp he like.

I thought it would be much hotter. It probably is a few degrees hotter but not a lot.
I was really surprised.

So last night and this morning I've been trying out your method Hatrick. It's worked like a dream, you were right

DH thinks I'm mad to eb changing it all around but I said it him if even if the risks weren't there its got to be better to have freshly made milk each time. I'm sure it is...and he did agree!

We're both converted now...even thouh he doesn't make the bottles

LTH, just to resurrect this - are you still doing as per hatrick i.e. cooled water less 1oz then when time for feed at 1oz boiling water, formula and heh presto? is that right?

what to people do when out and about?

According to the NHS guidance it is fine to make up a bottle of water with boiling water and make up the feed at a later point with pre-measured powder. See this link

If you need to heat the water then take a flask of boiling water with you - you can get Fisher Price ones with handy screw on cups to sit the bottle in whilst it's warming.

This is what I do with DD and all of my friends who are FF do the same with no ill effects whatsoever.

i make my lille ones bottles in advance every night, cool them down, put in fridge and reheat as required. i do know that you are meant to use freshly boiled water which is no more than 30 mins old as this is the optimum temperature to kill any bacteria in the non-sterile formula, and so this is what i do, then as i say coll b4 putting in the fridge. x

bugger - daisyhun this link doesn't work - can you point me in right direction please?

so you can put boiling water in sterilised bottle then let it cool down and add formula later, then reheat? Surely the formula wouldn't disolve unless water was very hot? Or am I being thick?!

Here is the link Basically it says you should always use hot water but if you are going out you can fill a thermos with boiling water and it will stay hot enough to safely make up a bottle. You would probably then have to cool it down a bit though.
