How long till omeprazole helps?or maybe it isn't going to?

DS 7 weeks has been on omeprazole for a week now and at first it seemed to really help but we have had a really bad day or so now with constant screaming and being sick.
Can I assume its not reflux? He is on a 2 week trial of it then if no better I need to look at cutting dairy maybe.

It took 10-14 days for my worst reflux child.

Hang in there. I know it's tough, but just keep going and it does get better.

Are you using ranitidine as well?

Mortigua · 15/03/2018 23:14

Thanks , its exhausting!
No the dr only prescribed omeprazole. My oldest was on both but did have side effects from ranetidine and it wasn't enough on its own.
So I shouldn't give up hope yet then! Annoying its a special order and the dr wants me to try it two weeks before describing more so I need to order it now if I want to carry it on! Don't want to give him something unneccessary but he needs something to change poor thing as he is so so comfortable.

Prescribing not describing!
Did you find your DC reacted to stuff you ate (if you breastfed) or needed dairy free formula?

@Mortigua I'd order more personally. Another couple of weeks to see could be what makes the difference.

It didn't make any difference what I ate with either of mine 😩 But the medication did help.

Thanks will call them today I think. The dr was very good about it all. Ds had a bad evening then huge poo then good night so it's hard to tell what's normal colic and what is reflux/food sensitivities. I have found the same though no definite correlation with food as far as I can tell but the dr did say reaction could be delayed.
