She got her first two at 19 weeks then today at 29 weeks she's got another SIX

Have been nipped a few times by mistake by the two inital ones, but am a tad worried by her latest arrivals lest she decide my nips are there for biting. DH has been winding me up about me giving up bfing if I don't want to be the incredible nippleless woman.

Aside from smacking him round the head to stop him saying this, is there any advice anyone out there could offer?

Pull her into your breast, it makes them open their mouths! I am still BF at 14.5mths and its fine, she never bites anymore and only did it in the early days a few times

Some babies go through a nipping stage. Just discontinue the feed if that happens - they soon get the message. You can carry on BF safely as the baby can suck easily without marking you.

Thanks. She didn't bite me with the 1st two but I have noticed her beavering away nibbling everything at the minute.

What you will find is that she is in her 'oral phase' which means she will put everything to her mouth as that is the way babies 'feel' things. She is familiar with your breast so shouldn't nibble it often. She might experiment a few times and if that happens, that is when you stop the feed. They soon learn

Mears - thanks. My DH has been laughing when DD bites his fingers and now she thinks it's a great game (he does definitely deserve some sort of pain to be inflicted for this). I'm glad to hear other mums have got through this. I have no intention of giving up, unless she becomes really bitey.

Yes,it's not a problem.Teeth aren't generally used when sucking-try yourself to see.
I fed my dd for 30 mths.

Interested in this post too as DS's (6.5 months) two bottom teeth have recently emerged & I've been nipped twice now. Quite painful & it's making me nervous about bf, but I don't really want to stop yet.
