Breastfeedimg- slower gain at 2 months

Hello,
Was wondering if I could get some advice..

My baby girl weighed 3.48kg at birth and up till couple of weeks ago been gaining weight nicely, staying at the 75th percentile. I fully breatfeed her with no formula.

I had her weighed at the HV clinic 2 weeks and 2 days ago, her weight was 4.70kg, 50th percentile. HV advised that the drop in lercentile is normal. 11 days later, I weight was 3.78kg, meaning she only gained 80gr between the two weighing, placing her in 25th percentile.. worth mentioning she was fighting a cold inbetween? Again, I was told this is normal and could be a ‘one off’ drop.

I am worried about this.. I consulted an adviser at rhe breastfeeding helpline who said that as long as baby has put on weight and nor losing- this is a good sign..

I haven’t noticed any change in feeding patern since I had baby and currntly getting 5/6 wet nappies every day. I have been feeding every 2 hours in the last few days and constantly worried about how much milk baby is actually getting and is she putting on weight.. also worried that my milk supply is running low as breasts seem to be softer..?

I am currently away with baby, for 3 weeks, and so can’t weigh her at he clinic until I’m back home.. I have tried to use a bathroom weight scale to weigh myself without and then with the baby to check baby’s weight and this came 4.7kg.. I know it could be slight off but want to keep weighing doing it and see if baby is gaining weight overall.. any thoughts?

Please help, is thie normal?

Yes stop worrying. Easier said then done. Mine did similar (all four children). They are now all school aged and lucky to be naturally slim despite a great appetite. They all took about 3 or 4 months to settle on a percentile and have followed the same percentile line for years now.

That’s good to know.. thatnk you!
I would like to avoid using formula (unless necessary..

Definitely stop worrying. If she is alert
and weeing loads then shes fine.
Keep as often as she wants. Listen for sucking and swallowing. You are doing amazingly.
Was she over due? Sometimes over due babies are bigger than they 'should be' so maybe she's finding her natural line.
Also breasts do go soft after a few weeks. That's normal.

All of my 4dcs weight fluctuated massively in the first 5 months, 2 were bottlefed and 2 were breastfed, its all a combination of them finding their correct percentile. Illness dosent help and with one of mine she always lost weight when she had a big growth spurt. For reference dc4 weighed 5.8kg at birth, he was way off the charts, he was happily settled on the 50th by 6 months, some weeks he would gain weight others he wouldnt, hes a perfectly healthy little boy as are all my dc.

It’s normal, especially as she’s had a cold. Softer breasts doesn’t mean your supply is running low it means it’s just right for your baby at the moment and your body has got into a rhythm of feeding. I never had swollen breasts after the first few weeks apart from the few times I went out and didn’t feed on schedule.

After the midwife stopped coming to the house I didn’t weigh dd till the HV came over for her checks Blush

To be fair it did stop a lot of worrying and she’s fine! Like a pp said - alert and happy, plenty of wet and dirty nappies and she’s fine. Agree also overdue babies tend to settle down into what size they should be, so if she was overdue she is probably meant to be along the 25th/50th centile.
