DS has fed whenever he wanted since birth. So could be a 5min nibble every half hour or two three hours when out presumably because he's distracted. I would prefer he switched to proper full spaced feeds....is there a nack? Im trying EASY but he still naps on me and is fed to sleep

No advice sorry but sympathy as we are in the same boat. So maybe it's all perfectly fine and normal.. I wonder if things will be different when we wean.

I my experience (although it’s mainly bottle feeding), the more they eat in the day the less they will eventually at night. At this age I would keep feeding on demand. Then at 6 months when you start to wean you could look into spacing the feeds out. Good luck.

I said this to my health visitor and she said to remember that his little feeds might just be that he’s thirsty so it’s a bit mean to space them out. Mine now has a big feed every few hours but little feeds between if he wants them

Ah OK brill I will carry on until 6m then thank you

I'm doing the same with 4.5 month ds. have thought about trying to structure it a bit more (sleep is terrible too) but figured I'd just see how things pan out when food is introduced at 6 months. I also like the EASY principles but also feed to sleep so that messes it all up really.

It just occurred to me I may not be letting DS nurse for long enough.....maybe I am not good at telling when hes proper sleepy and pulling him off too soon. Is there a good way to tell? I know they dab in and out of feeding.

when I'm trying to pull him off before he is asleep (although I do often let him fall asleep if I'm knackered) I tend to wait until he does the flutter motion then let him do this about 5 times then break him off gently. sometimes he relatches in which case i just repeat the same as he clearly isn't finished.

Jellybabie3 · 22/02/2018 01:20

Yeah he does the flutter thing too so i usually do something similar. That said tonight i left him and he started feeding again a few mins aftet Blush
