Can you mix formula brands?

DS1 is due in a few months and I'm planning to formula feed after the first week for various reasons

We were really pleased to hear aldi have launched formula at a much lower cost, so hopefully he will get on ok with that. But at the moment they don't do ready made. Could we use aldi as much as possible but have pre made bottles when needed or would that upset his little stomach?

Hi OP - DS1 is on Aldi at home and Aptimal ready made out and about. I read an article that they are made in the same factory and have exactly the same ingredients and when I checked this myself I found this to be true. I took the view that it was fine and we've had no problems.

You'll always get mixed opinions on this, it's not a complete no-no so I'd do your own research and come to a conclusion you're happy with. There will always be someone who tells you you're doing it wrong!

Good luck with the baby Smile

Thanks all, very helpful, I knew it is very strictly regulated in the UK I did just know some babies seem to do better on certain brands. We've got a perfect prep so when T home the powdered formula makes financial sense but I of course wanted to make sure there's no risks to him.

Wouldn't surprise me if they're all made in the same factory with ever so slightly different ingredient ratios

Not all in the same factory, but cow and gate and aptamil are the same company, Milupa. Aldi is cagey about where Mamia formula is made except that it's produced in Ireland. Some have speculated this is the Milupa factory too.

SMA is Nestlé and I don't know about the others.

I've got a 4 week old baby and do what you are planning to do. I use Aldi at home and Cow and Gate ready made formula when out. No problems here.
Obviously don't stock up in case the baby doesn't get on with it but I can't imagine there will be an issue otherwise.

Yes you can mix feed. (I'm sure it's not the most ideal as yes some brands may cause slight gas and constipation to your baby) I have a 4 month old. We planned breast feeding but got sma premade just incase (cheapest) when breast feeding stopped moved onto sma powder he got constipated but I had 20 small sma premade bottles I continued using when out and about we've used cow and gate powder and pre made we've used aptimil heck I've even mixed two powder formulas when one was running out. Baby's fine. As long as baby doesn't exhibit side effects that are negatively effecting them it'll be fine. But don't be switching willy nilly just because your in different shops each time as I'm sure baby will develop a preference to whichever you choose to use.
