4mo and suddenly engorged

DC1 is 4mo and EBF. I've been lucky to have had relatively few problems with breastfeeding so far. For the last couple of days, though, I've started feeling "fuller" to the point where yesterday evening I was in so much pain i had to pump! I ended up getting up twice in the night to pump, and am still really engorged this morning and leaking everywhere. Feels like the first weeks all over again Sad

I suspect this is a response to change in demand. DS has had a few nights of increased night wakings, and I've been feeding him every time, so I guess this may have boosted my supply? His sleep is now back to normal, and I've also noticed for the last few days I've his latch has been a bjt shallower than before - although plenty of wet/dirty nappies so I'm not too worried.

I guess my question is - what do I do? I've been trying to only pump a little bit to relieve discomfort, as I don't want to risk further boosting my supply, but I'm also worried about blocked ducts / mastitis (neither of which I've had before, so not quite sure what to look for). Do I just need to ride this out and wait for supply to readjust? I've got to take the baby out in the sling today and it's so uncomfortable I'm not sure I'll manage it Sad

So now baby is resisting feeds! I've finally managed to get him latched on (poorly), but had a good hour or so of smiley happy baby, turning to screaming and writhing whenever I put him near my breast... (enough to give a woman a complex!!) He must be hungry as he had only one tiny feed from one side at about 6.30, and before that nothing since about midnight. What's going on?? He normally feeds like a dream!

He might have a sore throat and not be feeding as officiantly. Try him with some calpol and feed again in an hour!
