Vomiting at 12 weeks - when to worry?

Hi all. DS is 12wks and ebf. He has always been quite a sicky baby and was described by the gp at his 6 week check as a 'happy chucker' - he often brought milk straight back up again after a feed and it rarely bothered him.

The past I would say 3 weeks he has been vomiting more and more. The vomit is thick and mucousy and smells like proper vomit. Often it is between feeds, so sometimes an hour after feeding. I know when he's going to vomit because he is tense and agitated and whinges before it comes up. Afterwards he often cries. Today for example he did quite well, only a couple of chuck ups all day, then this evening he vomited 6 times in half an hour.

Every time I speak to a hcp they tell me babies are just sick and not to worry but when does it become an issue?

He is quite a big baby, was 7lb15 at birth and last week was 14lb4. I weighed him today and he is 14lb exactly so lost those 4 ounces in the past week when the vomiting has worsened. Would you be concerned and should I go to GP? Worried they will just think me neurotic! Thanks

I don't have any constructive advice regarding the vomiting but a bump for you.

How did you weigh him, and did you weigh him last week?

You should definitely go to the GP. You don't want him to become dehydrated.

I had a happy chucker but he was just chucking up milk and wasn't bothered by it and gained lots of weight. I would see a GP due to the weight loss and agitation.

Definitely worth taking him back to the GP if he's lost weight at this age. As others say it could lead to dehydration. Also it's probably unlikely but they might want to check he's not got pyloric stenosis, which can make some babies vomit their feeds back up. Hope it doesn't worry you mentioning that - it's easy to put right if he does - just want to reassure you that it's not neurotic to want to get him checked out.
