AIBU to think I can leave her?

I really really want to do a thing that will take me away from my DD for one long day a week for 5 weeks when she is 6-7 months old. I'm exclusively breast feeding but will be starting to wean her then anyway. Is it impossible?

I left my ebf baby for 2 days at 7 months. He was fine-I think it was harder for me!

No, but she might want to feed more at night to make up for being apart from you all day. You can either express bottles for her, leave formula or just let her have solids and water and feed lots when you get back.

Thanks, roughly how many milk feeds would a baby be taking at 6 m?

My DD is 11 months and tends to have 3 feeds between 9am and 5pm. But I haven't tried cutting any. Nights are another story-6 feeds perhaps 6.30pm-6.30am

I think mine had 4 bf per day at that age but one was first thing and the last was just before bed so you might only need to express/leave formula for two depending on when leave in the morning/get back in the evening.

I was doing weekly kit days at that age, DS would feed before I left and as soon as I got in (9hours) and I'd leave 2 bottles of expressed milk. He also had solids but was a bit hit and miss, so I made sure there was also extra milk in freezer if DH was worried he hadn't had much.

Maybe do a few dry runs first to make sure little one will take bottle, and settle for nap without you.

Also make sure there is somewhere to express while you're away, I aimed to collect the same amount as DS drank to keep up supply. Plus one time when my pump broke I ended up with a leakage situation by the end of the day

No, just get her used to bottles now takes a while for them to switch if you’ve ebf

A good rule is to leave 1oz an hour Smile
