Am I overfeeding??

Hi,
Sorry for the essay! I am EBF my 7.5 week old DD. She was 3.29kg (7lb 4oz) when born and dropped to 3.1kg after a few days. At her 1 month check she weighed 4.58kg (10lb) and was weighed at 7 weeks and was 5.2kg (11lb 7oz).
I am tall and slim and so is my DH so we would expect her to be tall. She is growing much longer and is filling out but I am so worried that I am overfeeding her.
A couple of people have suggested giving her a dummy to try and space out feeds further but she refuses to take a dummy and gags and cries. She's such a happy contented little soul but I don't want to overfeed her and cause problems.
She feeds 6-7 times per day, usually around every 3 hours with a couple of longer stretches of 4-6 hours at night. Feeds during the day take a good hour including winding, nappy changing etc. Is this far too long?
Her night feed/s are very quick- 10 mins approx then she's straight back to sleep.
I wasn't too worried til last week but it's just the odd comment from people about how big she's getting that have now made me paranoid and emotional Sad
Can anyone offer any advice?

No, don't worry. It's not possible to overfeed an ebf baby, because they have to actively work to get the milk out. You can over feed bottle feed babies because the milk just comes out.

Babies this young are supposed to feed lots. How are your nipples after a feed? Is she happy and content and having enough wet and dirty nappies? If yes just keep doing what you're doing. She doesn't need a dummy 😊 you're doing a great job Flowers

Nope, you're fine. You can't over feed a breastfed baby. It's best to feed on demand - you will have a happier baby and it's good for your supply. Babies are supposed to grow and gain weight - it's their job. My baby is breastfed and had also put on 4lbs by 7 weeks (born 8lbs 10oz and weighed 12lbs 12oz at 7 weeks) so it's not unusual. Try not to stress - sounds like you're doing a fab job!

Thank you Espresso for your kind words. That's very reassuring. My nipples are fine after feeding as I think the actual time she is sucking is probably not more than around 25 mins. She gets very gassy so I burp her regularly, especially on one side as the milk comes out very quickly which makes her gasp and choke sometimes though she has started to cope better with this as she's got older. She has loads of wet and dirty nappies although they are quite often green rather than yellow recently which am also a little concerned about.

Thank you Katniss, amazing weight gain from your LO too! I don't know why I've been getting so upset about the feeding. Think am just hormonal and over sensitive still Blush

As PP posters said Just feed on demand. Babies know best in this situation.
