If this is a growth spurt, why is it only increased feedings at night?

Here I am again, seeking out your advice!

Ds is 12 weeks, feeding every 3hours in the daytime. He is usually in bed at 7pm, sleeps til 7am with a late feed at 11pm and a feed at 3am too (sometimes a snack at 5.30 / 6 am too).

He has recently been waking hungry every 2 hours at night. I have been told there is a 12 week growth spurt, but why only increased feeds at night? He doesn't really feed longer or more frequently in the daytime.

now I am no expert but I have heard that the hormones that stimulate your milkflow to increase it if the baby needs it to are best stimulated at night.
babies are programmed to feed more often at night when they want to up your milkflow apparently

rabster - you are lucky to have a baby that sleeps so well usually

is he excl. bf ?

the answer to your qusetion is yes, my ds used to feed hourly sometimes right thro' the night, totally normal for excl. bf baby having a growth spurt.

your supply is best increased during the night (hormone related), and bf babies seem to know that

it does pass after a few days, well done for keeping at it

read www.kellymom.com on feeding during growth spurts and generally about feeding patterns. the best resource on the web for bf.
