I had my son on Tuesday 5th September . I couldn't do skin to skin straight away as he had to be checked on because of breathing difficulties .

I tried to breastfeed but it just wasn't happening . This is my second baby and I couldn't breastfeed my daughter either .

Anyways he has been on bottles and formula for a week now but today I noticed that I am leaking which I never did with my daughter ( I was completely dry and produced zero milk for her even a week after etc )

So I want to try and breastfeed him but am I too late ? Is the leaking a sign that I may be able to this time ? I am just not sure how to even start with all of it Confused

You can definitely try and it is feasible although I don't think anyone can tell you what the odds of success are with regard to likelihood of producing a decent amount of milk for baby! But you can have a go and see how it works out and it may well be enjoyable even if you can't make it to full supply. You could start with skin to skin, baby naked apart from nappy and on your skin with a blanket over; see if you can latch baby on. Best if you can get someone local to guide you on attachment technique, "laid back" positioning can be great when they are tiny. There are also good videos out there and you can check resources from 4 main uk groups giving support, la leche, breastfeeding network, association breastfeeding mothers, national childbirth trust. And phone or web chat national breastfeeding helpline. Good luck!! All the best

Definitely not too late to try! Try giving him a feed before his formula, as often as possible. The more often he feeds, the more your supply will increase.
If you can get a breastfeeding counsellor to help you that would be great, but otherwise if you are concerned about getting the latch right, look for step-by-step pictures or videos and check out sites like kellymom.

I'd say it's worth trying, even if you can only ever supplement the formula. Don't put too much pressure on yourself to switch over entirely or do it forever, but just think that every tiny bit you manage provides lots of antibodies and does some good.

Yes try! Just keep putting him on your boob overnight and seek professional support tomorrow

Absolutely not too late! Your body provides what baby needs so the more you keep him on the more your body will produce. Congrats on the new arrival and best of luck!
