Hi there, currently 32 weeks pregnant with DC1 and planning to breast feed. I'm looking at nursing pillows and it seems a bit of a minefield. Does anyone have any recommendations? Thank you X

I've had this type with both babies - fed first for 18 months and currently feeding my second who is nearly 12 weeks. They look narrow but they bend round you did ignore reviews saying they are too small. I am not slim. Have found them really really useful. With my second I took it to hospital with me too and it was particularly useful after a csection.

Brilliant thanks, I'll have a look at both of these

Get a Boppy pillow. They're brilliant for breastfeeding then can be used for tummy time and also to help your baby learn to sit up. It's the best thing I bought and certainly the most useful!

Don't get the soak and sleep nursing pillow, way too firm and narrow for both me and baby - she rolls off it all the time! I've used cheap Ebay pillows with both my dd's and I have them in every room and at work/my parents etc and I like the cheap ones and the filling is lovely and soft and quite thin and baby just sinks into it and lies in a really natural position. Also feeding in bed they don't get hot.

I didn't love any of the nursing pillows I had but of the ones I tried the My Breast Friend was probably the best.

I'm short in the body and big of boob. This combination has meant that nursing pillows don't work for me as baby ends up higher than nipple if there's more than a thin pillow under her. Just mentioning in case that's relevant to anyone reading this thread.

There are as many 'best nursing pillows' as there are breast/body shapes, because we all need the baby in a slightly different positions.

As a general rule, you only want a cushion that brings the baby to the height your bra-less breast would normally sit/hang. Otherwise you have to manoeuvre your boob into position too, which is frankly one thing too many to worry about!
For some women, that will be high up, and they will need a thick, firm pillow.
Others will have lower hanging breasts, and need a thin pillow or none at all.

Sorry it's not a definitive answer, but I vividly remember trying to feed my DD on a stack of pillows, and failing miserably!

I have a my Brest friend one - my DD is only 7 days old but already finding it invaluable. It's quite solid so keeps baby in the right position. Also comfy to wear despite having a c section.
