Should I pump through the night?

8 weeks now - time is going so quickly!

LO now sleeping longer stretches at night...should I pump between his feeds?

How long is it okay to let him sleep for? Last night he did 6 hours, fed, followed by another 3...wow! Good nappy output/weight etc.

Main concern is if he starts waking up during night in a few days or so, I won't have enough for him as my supply will go down?

Thank you for your advice.

Hi - noooo don't pump at night! Let him sleep and get some sleep yourself Smile

If he starts waking and feeding more, your body will adjust again after a couple of days - don't worry.

Only thing if he starts sleeping more is that you might feel a bit full and uncomfortable, so maybe express just a bit of milk to make yourself comfortable.

Boobs are amazing things and will adjust to suit your baby's needs

Thanks for your reply. It's so funny how much I've been willing him to sleep for weeks & now I'm the one awake Smile
Read a few conflicting things online about this, so good to have another opinion.

I'm in a similar predicament to you but my boobs are so painful after about 4 hours I had to express. HV told me I should express as at risk of mastitis leaving milk in there for 6-8 hours.
She only sleeps like that if she's been awake loads in the day. Last night she did 2,2 and 2 😩

Hi - I asked this question few weeks back. Was advised not to pump. Took that advise and all going fine. Baby now sleeping 7-8 hours - no mastitis or any problems. He has once or twice woken in this period and there was milk there for him.
