Cluster feeding...12 hours!!

I think I just want to know I'm not the only one dealing with this? Please!! 😩

My DD is 5.5 weeks old and I'm assuming she's hit a growth spurt.
I'm well used to long feeds with her as she had a very tight posterior tongue tie until it was cut 10 days ago.

We've seen an improvement but not a huge amount. She was taking anywhere between 2-5 hours to feed, now I'd say is between 1-4.

However, Friday and Saturday she fed from about 9am-10pm both days. I'm not talking a feed every hour, I'm talking constantly on the breast. She definitely fell asleep numerous times but if I tried to put her down she woke straight away so there was no chance for me to rest and I only get 3-5 hours broken sleep a night.

She also got to the point a couple of times where she didn't want the breast, and pulled away screaming. At that point it was an hour of rocking and soothing and walking up and down etc to calm her before she took the breast again.

I have got a sling and I would like to try her in it today and go for a walk if it continues like the last two days. At least it gives me a break.

I've told DP he will have to try and have her sleep on him if she won't go down in basket just so I can have an hours kip.

I was in tears last night as so tired and almost considered letting myself fall asleep whilst side feeding. The only thing that stopped me was not knowing how to do it safely.

I would like to start espressing again so DP can take a feed but I literally don't have time! As it is once she goes down I have to choose between washing or sleeping.

I know we all go through their growth spurts and cluster feeding but 12 hours?!

When she falls asleep on the breast, have you tried breast compressions?

Yes we have done those before her tongue tie was cut to help improve milk transfer.

I've been seeing the infant feeding team and lactation consultant since she was 10 days old.

She weighs over 11lbs at 5.5 weeks, has excellent nappy output and puts on weight at every weigh in since I went on the feeding plans set for me.

Just wondering if anyone had dealt with such a long time of cluster feeding? Threads I've read before and people are saying 3-6 hours and we are double that!

She had no interest in feeding properly the whole time. She feeds productively for an hour...then falls asleep, then trickle feeds, then falls asleep, then feeds productively, and so on. She won't latch properly half the time when cluster feeding and nothing I do will make her! I will latch her well...she will flutter suck and then pull herself off so she's just tickling the nipple. I can redo this time after time and she just keeps doing it. I tickle her feet, strip her off, change her nappy etc...she just wants to be on her mummy I think!

When she feeds productively she latches perfectly, I can hear milk pouring down her throat and the other boob is pouring too.

It could be a growth spurt but it may also be the tongue tie. Has she been checked to see if it is all clear now?

Not until this Friday as LC was poorly Friday just gone. 6 week check on Wednesday.

Can see myself it's healed nicely and looks healthy. Exactly as it's says in care leaflet. Tongue movement so much more
