Baby not feeding well

My 14 week old DS is EBF. For a couple of days now he has been really fussy/grumpy and often refusing to feed, particularly on the right breast.

His sleep is ok, and he's had good naps so I don't think he's overtired. I've had his usual number of nappies too. He used to be such a good feeder, I could literally latch him on whenever he was cranky and we'd just sit and feed. Now when he does feed he's only on for 10 or 15 minutes and is refusing and crying at times.

HV not available over the weekend, should I be getting some medical advice? He doesn't seem unwell, no snotty nose or fever.

Could you have a strong/overactive letdown at all? I did on one side and it wasn't particularly apparent until 12 weeks, even then I couldn't tell what the problem was. Baby just kept fussing and pulling off the nipple.
Could you try a let-down friendly position, like feeding lying down, to see if that makes a difference?

I've tried lots of positions today, including rugby ball just in case he doesn't want to lie on his left side. He has fed, but I feel like all I've done all day is offer him and he's getting grumpy most of the time.

I don't think it's my let down. When it's fast I know about it because when he comes off it sprays! Sorry TMI... He normally guzzles quite happily even when it's coming quite fast.

Hopefully someone with more experience will spot this thread and offer advice. But I wouldn't be overly alarmed if he is still having plenty of wet nappies and doesn't have a temperature. Have a browse on the lalecheleague website for advice? Kellymom is also a great source for troubleshooting!

He took a while to settle last night and was up 5 times overnight feeding, which is unusual, so I think he has caught up with his milk! Its a little early for his next growth spurt so maybe he had a sore tummy yesterday. Or maybe he's just a baby and was having a bad day Smile See what he's like today.

Oh I know the feeling. As soon as you 'diagnose' one problem, they naturally grow out of it/get over it and there's a new challenge in it's place. It's a constant battle - sometimes there's a few easy days in a row though. Sometimes! Smile
