Back to work/breastfeeding/1 year old

I'd always imagined I'd wean my baby off the breast before I went back to work, but being a first time mum I don't really know much about how much/often she'll be feeding , around the age of 1 when I go back.

I really don't want to have to express during the day. Is this likely to be possible? She's only 5 months now

At 1 year you should be able to get baby down to just feeding morning and nighttime, and give water/cows milk during the day - no need to start pumping at that age if you don't want to and you can keep feeding morning and night if you wish, I loved feeding my toddler as it was our quiet snuggletime that we didn't get during the day otherwise and meant an extra 15 minutes snoozing when he woke up early in the morning.

My DD started full days at nursery at 12mo. I didn't send anything with her and I didn't express at all. Nursery offered her cows milk or water in a cup and she BF before we left, when we got home and at night.

At 5mo I really wouldn't worry too much. Their BF habits change a lot by a year and your DD would be fine to last a day if you want to continue.

I breastfed my daughter on return to work at 12 Months. She had it morning, after nursery and night and it was absolutely fine.

Thanks ladies. I thought as much. Just wanted to make sure I didn't need to plan to wean her off. I'm a teacher and can't see expressing being even slightly practical!

I'm a teacher too - definitely couldn't see fitting expressing into my day either! Your supply will be fine by then so no issues. You might feel quite full by the end of the day in the beginning but they soon sort themselves out again.
