Holiday breastfeeding- any tips?

We're going to Rhodes, Greece in October and LO will be 6 months. He's breastfed and I'm comfortable doing so in public but wondering if anyone knows what the attitudes to breastfeeding are like in Greece- will I be ok around the pool, restaurants etc?
Also any tips for swimwear to suit wonky, leaky, easy access boobs- oh it's such a magical time.
Would you put off weaning until after holiday? LO is already showing interest in food, in 98th percentile and showing lots of signs of being ready to start soon. Thanks!

I would put off worrying about weaning, as in introducing 3 meals a day but give LO a taste of your food and see if he's interested in fruit.

Thanks Joopy

The signs of readiness for Weaning are here, I'd be surprised to be honest if your 4 month old is displaying all of these signs.

If you do wean before you go, it's noting to worry about really. They only need a taste of something once a day at 6 months and it doesn't even have to be every day. You could off things like a chunk of banana, a slice of nectarine or even a strip of meat. Kellymom has a useful guide on starting solids here and don't forget the MN Weaning info and MN Weaning talk Smile

Can't help on swimwear but I'd just bf wherever and whenever your baby needs it.

Breastfeeding in swimwear is really easy - I wore a tankini and just slipped a shoulder strap down and dropped one side of the top down. You could use your sarong or towel or whatever if you wanted some coverage. I lay down on my side on the sun lounger a lot for feeding and had a nice snooze at the same time. I would also put off weaning. We went away when my eldest was about the same age and it's handy to just be breastfeeding and not have to think about bringing along anything else.

I found Greece to be fine with breastfeeding to the point that if I was covered a bit (in a restaurant or bar) they didn't mind whipping the cover off to have a look at DS lol.

I loved feeding him at the beach/pool so easy. I was also say next to a Greek man when I was travelling from Athens, DS was six weeks and I was feeding him on take off and landing, the seats where very close together and I apologised to the man as I kept knocking his arm to get DS into a comfy position (boob was in show a couple of times), the gentleman just laughed and went on about how amazing it is and how he had three children and he remembered his wife doing the same.

Enjoy your holiday Rhodes is a beautiful island.

If you're not already on it, join the "can I breastfeed in it uk" page on Facebook. Loads of links there to breastfeeding friendly clothes and there's been a few swimming costumes if you search. If not, post this on there as well and you'll get loads of suggestions.

It's a fab page, but gets expensive as you do a load of internet shopping during a night feed!!

I've found that attitudes to breastfeeding in European countries are often better than the U.K. Enjoy your hols x
