Formula - when to stop? what's next?

Hi, might sound bit silly question but don't know what to do now.
DD is 11 months and on formula. I have read that after 1 year you don't need to give formula anymore (which is good news, it's just sooo expensive!). So some people say babies don't need to have cow's milk, some mums seem to replace all the formula feeds with cow's milk... I just don't know what to do! What are your experience and how did you stop giving formula to your LO?
TIA

Ran out of formula at about 11.5 months and just went on to full fat cows milk.

my dd only had 2 bottle feeds by 1 year and I just replaced them with cows milk

Just use cow's milk. They don't need milk at every meal by the way. Recommendation is a pint daily but remember that counts milk used in the diet - ie yogurts, cheese, milk in breakfast and puddings. 3 out of 4 of my children did not like cow's milk to drink so they never had any.

Thanks!
So basically if she doesn't like to drink it, I just have to make sure she'll have enough milk and milk products in her diet? Easy as that?

My DS1 went from formula to cow's milk at 1 - we just gradually replaced feeds with cow's milk, but tbh he didn't seem to notice the difference so could probably have done it in one fell swoop. He's now 16 months and we just play it by ear - usually has a few milk drinks a day, but if he misses the daytime ones no big deal. i think he might object to losing his bedtime one though! Such

Next problem is how to get him off his bottle...

DD usually just has one bottle in the morning and then has milk in cereal yoghurt cheese etc. If uspet in night she has one to come her down and help her sleep,

It is difficult to be sure that they get the 'right amount' tho, isn't it. Dd, 12 months, has a bottle at bedtime - still on formula until we run out - and sometimes a bottle before her afternoon nap - this is cows milk now. She has milk on her cereal, a fromage frais at lunch time and often has cheese sauce at tea time. But does this make up the 'right' amount of milk?

We watered down DSs formula with cows milk for a while - first 3/4 formula and then 1/2 formula and then 1/4 formula until he drank just cows milk.

DD stopped drinking formula at 7 months though - so only had to make up the bloody stuff for a month and she wouldn't drink cos milk at all and she is fine so don't stress baou it at all.

Thanks again! Thin king of changing formula to milk now, so will see how DD likes it!
