Baby biting me :(

Hello, I was just wondering if anyone had any advice to help me deal with my nearly 7 month old bf baby who seemingly loves having a chew on me while he's feeding! ( he smiles and pulls at my nipple sometimes Shock) It's so excruciating and I have had a few nights of tears with the pain Blush there's a cut from him biting me on one of my nipples but the other one is so far unscathed. I'm still making sure to feed from both and want to continue until he's a year old but it's quite difficult to muster the enthusiasm at the moment. Sad I've bought some multi mam cream and have been using that for the last few days but any tips would be welcome. Thank you so much in advance Grin

Both of mine did this and yes it is excruciating!

I removed the baby from the breast, said "no biting" firmly while gently touching their mouth and stopped feeding for a minute or two. If they did it again I said "no biting" again and stopped the feed all together for a while.

They do eventually get it!

Thank you Pennywhistle I'll definitely try that! I have tried removing him in the past but getting him off can be difficult as he seems to sense that's what I'm going to do and clamps down harder! And I've been guilty of laughing when he starts giggling whilst biting me, but it's more of an involuntary "oh my god this is so painful!" Type of laugh if you see what I mean? Maybe I'm nuts?! I understand that he's not biting on purpose, it doesn't help that he's got two bottom teeth and three top teeth coming in at the same time, poor thing!

I've been told to push them into the breast instead of taking off as it forces them to unlatch instead of them pulling as you take them off.

Interesting Bluebelltulip, I've never heard of that before. I'll try that too! Thank you Smile

My son did this at 8 months. It was so painful.

He is now 19 and I still clearly remember it happening.
No advice as I just gave him two chances and then stopped breast feeding him. For me, 8 months was a good run.

I so remember the pain.

Definitely don't laugh! He'll see it as a game!

You can use your pinkie to break the suction.

I carried on until 18 months and biting was worst at about 6 months when their teeth came in.

I never meant to laugh Blush I certainly don't anymore, I'm tense and I hate feeling that way when it used to be so relaxing feeding. Sad I've tried your suggestion of taking him off and leaving it a while. He was not impressed Grin but it's the initial latching on that's the most painful part and then the continuous pain of the feeding. I can't wait until the cut heals! His teeth always seem to find it!
